Yes, it's possible. Cats are sensitive creatures and they can be affected by normal life events like a change in food, weather, a temporary environment, or short-term anxiety. Stress, in particular, can significantly affect cat urine and urinary health by altering pH levels.
Things To Consider & Look For:
- Was your cat recently introduced to a new home or environment?
- Has there been any change to either your or their routines or schedule?
- Have any new products, objects, toys, accessories, or stimulants been observed in your cat's home?
- Have there been any changes in their behavior, energy, or engagement levels?
- Have there been any changes to their food, diet, or eating habits?
If you notice a color change, we recommend you monitor your cat's PrettyLitter to see if the color change persists. If a color change lasts for 24-48 hours, that's when we'd recommend taking your cat to the vet.
Litter Saturation Issues
When PrettyLitter has reached the end of its super absorbent life cycle, urine can start to pool at the bottom of the litter box. This concentration of saturated PrettyLitter can also cause a reaction that changes the saturated litter “blue”.
If you notice the litter is turning a slushy consistency along with a blue color, it may be time to refresh your litter box with a brand new bag.
